Windows Vs. Mac OS – How to Compare These Two Giants in Computer Operating Systems
You’ve probably heard about the Windows vs Mac OS debate that many computer users engage in. This isn’t anything new and both systems have their pros and cons. This doesn’t mean that they are identical, though, and the truth is that you are probably going to be better served by one system over the other. If you’re having a difficult time choosing between them, consider the points we will be raising in this article.
You probably should use Windows if you like to spend time on your computer playing games. If you have a Mac, there are some games, but Windows has a much larger selection. There is a program called Bootcamp, which can be run on today’s Mac computer, making it work like a PC, and that is the truth. However, if you’re a serious gamer, it may not make sense to have to go to this trouble. Many Windows programs are run quite well with Bootcamp, but it may not supply your demanding games with all of the power and speed they need. If you are seriously into gaming, and want the best experience, it will be expensive, but you should buy a PC that is especially made for gaming. If you are a gamer, your best choice would be Windows over a Mac. When you get a Mac computer, already installed will be a wide variety of software programs that are useful. iDVD, iPhoto, iMovie and iWeb are all part of iLife, which comes with your Mac computer. Having the ability to edit your videos, photos and audio files, along with being able to organize and share them, is what you get with these programs. When it comes to software, Windows doesn’t really give you that much. You might think you are getting a lot of software, but many of these are just free trials, so you better read the fine print. You might be surprised after a couple of months, to be told you have to upgrade a program to keep using it. Lower priced PCs are famous for doing this. This could make the price comparison not seem quite as good for the PC when compared to a Mac.
There are a lot of absolute advantages offered with Macs and one of those is how much support you can get. When you purchase a Windows based PC, there are different levels of support depending on which store sold it to you and what brand you bought. But if you do some homework and research, you are going to find that most PC manufacturing brands only offer bad or, at best, mid-level customer service. When you want top notch customer support you’re forced to pay for it.
In terms of tech support, however, Macintosh has earned a stellar reputation. Not only can you call them for help, they have a ton of repair centers out there where you can take your computer when you need it to be serviced instead of having to ship it off somewhere. These are just a few of the points regarding Windows and Mac OSes that you should consider before making your final choices. If you’re having trouble making up your mind, you should visit a large computer store, including perhaps an Apple store if there’s one near you. You’ll find that it’s easier to make a final decision once you’ve gotten up close and personal with all of your options.
